Fnac Darty worldwide
Although we are based in France, we also operate internationally, in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Morocco (under franchise), Qatar (under franchise), the Ivory Coast (under franchise) as well as Cameroun and Congo.
In virtually all these countries, we have developed a presence that is both physical via our network of 703 stores, and Internet-based, via our websites in each country.
We had a network of 150 stores, including 88 wholly-owned stores at the end of 2016. The first store opened in Paris in 1957, and the Fnac.com website was created in 1999. Darty has a network of 332 stores, including 218 wholly-owned stores. The two brands opened their first stores in 1957, in Montreuil for Darty, and Paris for Fnac. The Fnac.com and Darty.com websites were both created in 1999.
Fnac had 30 stores in Spain at the end of 2016, including one store in the Travel format in Valencia Train Station and one Fnac Connect store in Bilbao. The first store opened in 1993 in Madrid, and the fnac.es website was launched in 2000.
We had a network of 25 stores in Portugal at the end of 2016. Fnac’s first Portuguese store opened in Lisbon in 1998, and the fnac.pt website was launched in 2002.
Belgium was the first country outside France into which Fnac and Darty expanded. Fnac had 10 stores in Belgium at the end of 2016. Fnac’s first Belgian store opened in Brussels in 1981, and the fnac.be website was launched in 2006.
Darty is active in Belgium under the Vanden Borre brand, and had a network of 71 stores at the end of 2016.
Darty has a network of 71 stores in the Netherlands under the BCC.
Fnac is active in French-speaking Switzerland with a network of 6 stores at the end of 2016, the first of which was opened in 2000 at the Rue de Rive in Geneva.
Our operations in Morocco take the form of a franchise agreement, as part of a partnership with the Aksal Group, one of the leading specialist retailers on the Moroccan market. Our store in Casablanca opened in December 2011, and was our first franchise store. We opened a second Fnac store in Tanger in July 2017.
In May 2015, Fnac opened its first shop in Lagoona Mall in Doha, with partner Darwish Holding, a group with renowned expertise both in franchising and in the retail of consumer electronics. In June 2017, we opened a second store in Doha Fetival City Mall.
Fnac inaugurated the second of its two stores in Abidjan in the Ivory Coast in February 2016, by relying on the power and expertise of the Prosuma Group, a major retail operator in that country.
In April 2017, Fnac opened its first shop in Cameroun, Douala, with a new partner, well installed in the continent, retailer Mercure International.
In July 2017, after Cameroun, Fnac continued its partnership with Mercure International and opened its first franchise shop in Congo.
