Nathacha Appanah received the 38th Prix Goncourt des Lycéens on November 27 for the book « La nuit au cœur » (published by Gallimard).
2,000 students in grades 10 through 12 from 57high schools offering general, technological, or vocational programs had the rare opportunityto read the 14 novels competing for thePrix Goncourt des Lycéens over the past two months.

The 14 novels in competition, selected from the initial selectionby the Académie Goncourt, were hotly debated by high school students andauthors during regional meetings organized by Fnac. Regional deliberations were then held on 24 November in six French cities, attended by the 57 national student delegates.
A list of 5 finalist novels was selected onthis occasion, prior to the national deliberation on November 27 the final stage of this literary adventure!
Created in 1988 on the initiative of Fnac and the Ministry of National Education, with the agreement of the Académie Goncourt and based on its selection, the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens allows thousands of students each year to read and study works of contemporary literature.
