« I loved this comic—it’s both very personal and very human, reflecting the challenges we all face. There’s a certain universality to it… »

The graphic novel *Au-Dedans* (Editions 404) has just been named the winner of the 7th edition of the Fnac France Inter Comic Book Award. This debut graphic novel by Will McPhail, an illustrator for *The New Yorker*, is a refreshing and moving story centered on Nick, a withdrawn young city dweller who slowly begins to open up to the world.
Nick is an illustrator whose life oscillates between his personal projects and a day job at an advertising agency. He spends his time in cafés and craft beer bars, aware that something is missing from his life: other people and their inner worlds. Much more than a critique or a simplistic autobiographical account of a millennial’s life among other millennials, this slice of Nick’s life focuses on the divide that separates us all from one another.
The Fnac France Inter Comic Book Award symbolizes Fnac’s commitment to promoting the 9th art and also offers the winner prominent shelf space in its stores.
The awards ceremony for the 7th annual Fnac France Inter Comic Book Award took place on January 8 at the Maison de la Radio, attended by Enrique Martinez, CEO of the Fnac Darty Group; Rebecca Manzoni, producer of the programs “Totémic” and “Le Masque et la Plume” on France Inter; Adèle Van Reth, producer of “Chemins de la philosophie” on France-Culture; and Will McPhail, who traveled from Scotland especially for the occasion.
