Fnac Darty has unveiled the major findings from its 2024 After-Sales Service Barometer, a tool that provides a reference framework for consumer purchase decisions. The After-Sales Service Barometer also aims to support industry operators and public authorities in their work to extend product life spans. The major findings are presented below.
For the first time, the barometer includes changes in sustainability ranking, i.e. the increase or decrease in the reliability, repairability, availability and price of spare parts for each brand.
An analysis of repairs carried out for Darty Max subscribers revealed that, for most customers, the products they had repaired were older in 2023. On average, front-loading washing machines were five months older and brush vacuum cleaners were four months older, compared to the previous year.
Having said that, we still need to improve the repair reflex: While reparability has been getting better for seven years now, only 38% of buyers say they considered repairing their appliance before purchasing a new one. The majority of customers felt that their product was beyond repair (48%), that the repair would be too expensive (18%), or that it would be easier just to replace it (19%).
A pioneer in the circular economy and the leading repairer in France, Fnac Darty will once again be sponsoring the French National Repair Days, underscoring its commitment to making repairs more accessible and developing the repair profession.
